Gabriela Montoya

Gabriela is a Licensed Social Worker in New Jersey. She received her undergraduate degree from Montclair State University in Child Advocacy and Policy and her graduate degree in Social Work from Rutgers University. Gabriela specializes in working with children and adolescents who are struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, and have experienced trauma. She utilizes a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, and a Strengths Based Approach to help her clients and their families meet their goals. Gabriela has a history of working in residential treatment facilities, school settings, and in crisis response. 

Gabriela has completed the 40 Hour Domestic Violence Training, Nurtured Heart Approach Training, and has a Violence Against Women and Children Certificate. In her work with her clients, Gabriela places a strong emphasis on building rapport and fostering a nurturing, therapeutic environment that allows her clients to build on their strengths. Gabriela also values integrating the family in treatment in order to ensure that the strategies used in treatment are transferred into the home environment.
